Chef John Parlatore knows one thing; food. Since graduating The French Culinary Institute in Manhattan, he’s launched 9 New York City restaurants; three of which he owns. Prior to opening Gastroteca in Astoria, John was invited on three occasions to the prestige’s festival of gastronomic cuisine in Mougins France, the world largest gathering of two and three star Michelin chefs.
Chef Parlatore brings more than 21 years of restaurant and culinary knowledge in companies ranging from small boutique private clubs, to multimillion dollar restaurant groups. A product of Up State New York, Mr. Parlatore always dreamed of owning New York City restaurants. That dream was recognized in 2013 with the opening of Gastroteca Astoria. In 2014 Chef Parlatore and Gastroteca were awarded with the Michelin bib gourmand.
In 2017, he opened his second restaurant, Astoria Provisions in Long Island City. A brunch concept that remains a neighborhood favorite. There after, in 2019 his third restaurant Best Pizza Shop opened in Astoria, N.Y. Here is where his signature style on pizza began. After Covid-19, in 2022, Chef Parlatore relocated Best Pizza Shop to New Canaan, Connecticut where he brings pizza to life!
